Ultrasonic transducer box refers to a sealed shell assembly that integrates piezoelectric chips, matching layers and acoustic damping. Its surface state directly affects the efficiency of ultrasonic energy transmission. Whether the surface wear needs to be replaced depends on the degree of damage of the wear morphology mechanism.
There are many types of wear. Uniform wear only leads to a reduction in the thickness of the matching layer. When the remaining thickness changes the acoustic impedance transition characteristics, the consistency of the resonant frequency will be reduced. Local scratches cause the sound wave scattering effect, resulting in directivity deviation and main lobe energy attenuation. When the crack pattern extends to the piezoelectric chip bonding layer, the proportion of vibration energy converted into heat energy will increase significantly.
Surface wear will affect the performance of the Ultrasonic transducer box. The surface flatness of the material decreases, and it is easy to leave bubbles on the detection contact surface, which interferes with signal transmission and causes abnormal ultrasonic reflection. The increase in surface roughness will shorten the effective range of ultrasonic waves and affect the ability to identify subtle defects. The damage and peeling of the edge area will destroy the shell seal, and the intrusion of water will accelerate the performance degradation of the internal material.
Regularly check the trend of the surface Rockwell hardness change to predict the failure cycle of the wear-resistant coating. Install a replaceable polyurethane protective film in a strong abrasive environment, and the sacrificial layer design extends the life of the core components. When the contact medium contains solid particles, use a non-contact electromagnetic ultrasonic solution instead.
